The Guide about Energy Saving by different means.
This "ENERGY SAVING" section is a HUGE section.
It may eventually be bigger than the rest of the site.
Come and visit "once a week" to save energy with us for:
"HOT Climates"
as much as
for "COLD Climates".
In the meantime, as a hint, did you know that subject to:
Insulation of basements:
A 1" inch blue or pink Styrofoam has a thermal insulation factor of approximately R: 5, or the equivalent of four 4' feet of poured in place concrete of your foundation?
An 8" to 10" inch thick foundation, uninsulated, has thus a resistance factor of R: 0.9.
Even the uninsulated Homes/Buildings built before 1965 have their brick walls with an insulation factor of at least R: 10.
Thus 1' ft. high of uninsulated basement looses as much heat as 10' feet of wall or one story high.
If more than 3' feet of basement is uninsulated, therefore, there is more heat lost from the basement than from the rest of a cottage, duplex or a three level building.
Insulation costs are "paid for" by the savings of heating "in less than one year".
------------------------------------------------------------
There is more Energy Saving by applying some easy techniques to HOT, Warm and Temparate climate zones.
It will be very interesting when this section of COOLING COSTS Savings for HOT CLIMATES is developed.
A section will also be developed on the "R" Factors of different materials.
This section of Energy Saving" definitely needs to be to be developed further.
See you shortly!
